If your child is sent home, please remember:
If he or she has temperature,
Use age appropriate analgesics such as children’s acetaminophen,
Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen etc. – NO ASPIRIN PRODUCTS
Alternate – starting with ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), then acetaminophen,
alternating every four (4) to six (6) hours
Please do not send your child back to school until they are twenty-four
(24) hours fever free (without medication)
Vomiting or nausea,
Please drink lots of fluids
Clear liquids such as Gator-Ade, Kool-Aid, Sprite, 7 – Up, Pedialyte,
popsicles, Jell-O, clear soups etc.
Try to avoid milk and milk products until feeling better and no further
vomiting and/or nausea
Coughing/drainage,
Remember to avoid milk or milk products if you have drainage as this
sometimes causes more drainage
If you have cough drops, they must be kept in the nurse’s office and
the school MUST have a note giving them permission to take them
Diarrhea,
A “BRAT” diet works really good: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast
*REMEMBER* – lots of rest and most important of all, please visit the doctor if your child’s symptoms get worse or persist.
Cover your cough and wash your hands! |
