Our children are our future!

Welcome to Hillcrest Elementary School Library

Parents/Caregivers:Please help your child to learn how to take care of his/her library books! Here are some tips:

* Designate a special place in your home to keep library books.Pick a place for your child to place his/her books that is high enough to keep toddlers and family pets from reaching them. Then your child will know where their books are on their library day.

* Keep food and drinks away from library books.Sticky fingers and spills can make pages unsightly and cause permanent damage.

* Use a bookmark to keep your place.Don’t fold the corners down to mark your place.

* Encourage your child to bring books back on time. It’s fun to get new books to read.

* Keep books away from water.Water can permanently damage books so they are beyond repair.

* Don’t color, cut or glue while reading your books. These will make a book unsightly and likely deter someone else from reading the book.

* If a book is damaged, please have your child notify Mrs. Craigmiles or Mrs. Clark.

* Children that are learning to read are very proud of their new skills and will love to read to you.By helping your child take care of their books, you are teaching them the importance of respect and responsibility.
